The celebration of 3C – Cheese Coffee Chocolate Festival At WayPoint

By Pamela Nandi | Dec 21, 2021

Think of European breakfast with an open mind and palate and discover the delights at the very well-known cafe Waypoint which celebrated a deliciously unique festival by picking up the chocolate cheese and coffee combo – the guilty pleasures of any food fanatics conceptualized by Meena Megha Malhotra .

Being a cheese maniac, I made a stop to experience my sense through the marvellous journey. Who doesn’t adore cheese – the creamy rich buttery mellow that makes everyone happy. An attempt was made to pick up artisanal cheesemakers of India which has an evolving demand.

One of them is BEGUM VICTORIA, a taste trail of eclectic organic and handcrafted cheesemakers based out of Bangalore. The Greek indulgence of the BEGUM VICTORIA FETA boasts a tangy kick with an unparalleled taste amongst the other fetas. Their creamy tangy GARLIC ‘n’ HERBED FETA is pure love.

The gooey creamy BEGUM VICTORIA BRIE CHEESE brings an eclectic French taste with a stylish greying tinge.

The pronounced creaminess, saltiness and nuttiness are well evident in their classic Swiss-type or Alpine BEGUM VICTORIA YOUNG GRUYERE CHEESE.

The quintessential mountain cheese from the animals grazed in high mountain pastures and fashioned in the form of wheels graced the charcuterie board. The honey rubbed, soft textured, mild flavoured cheese from the Darima Farms located in the pristine environment of Kumaon Himalayas brings a harmonious note to the buds – DARIMA HIMALAYAN MONTASIO.

The semi-hardened Dutch-style Edam cheese procured locally from the Kodai Dairy FarmsKODAI EDAM CHEESE comes with mildly salty taste, spherical in shape, pale yellow interior and coated with red paraffin wax. An elegant and impressive charcuterie board was curated by the talented Meena Megha Malhotra with fresh accoutrements like fresh fruits, crackers, olives, nuts.

The pairing of the slightly sweet MONTASIO cheese with the fruits, olives, carrot apple pickles brings the perfect savoury, salty blend that spiced up with FETA, GRUYERE, EDAM. An example of a perfect match made in heaven.

The bite of a slightly sharp taste of cheese with a pleasantly bitter sip of your favourite brew is an excellent combination and the newest food trends, an interplay of flavours hits the palate. This delicious idea got fully justified when I made my selection to pair up with hot MANDARIN MOCHA. A unique and refreshing blend of flavours from coffee, chocolate, mandarin oranges. Wonderful attempt by the very talented barista Karan Malhotra .

Finally, the pairing with the chocolate – the medium roasted brew and the buttery chocolate dessert created perfect flavour notes. There is a saying – ‘baking is always an art’ and desserts by Meloso – the baked art showcased their skills by presenting the remarkable silky smooth chocolate dessert. One of them is the CHOCOLATE BRULEE – the rich baked custard dessert with its classic caramelized-sugar toppings.

Hats off to Waypoint by laying such delicious pairings, complex textures and beautiful flavours.

Cheers !!!
